What customers say?

“ Excellent fish and chips. The fish in particular was perfect- fresh with very crisp batter. We actually thought it was better than the ‘best in WA’ place in Albany. ”

- Kylie Evans -

“ We had battered Shark and Snapper, both localy caught. The batter was fine and did not dominate the fish. Really first class batter. Both fish were moist and tasty. The chips had just the right amount of crunch. Really first class Fish and Chips! Will return! ”

- Evie Agoston-Pearce -

“ What a delightful surprise this place was. We had local snapper with chips and local shark with chips, both were fresh with a small amount of wonderfully crisp batter and were very tasty. Perfect serving size for one and well presented in rustic metal containers. Well done, definitely worth the visit ”

- Leesa Melton -

“ Delicious snapper and chips! We are so glad we stopped and decided on lunch here. Friendly service too. We wished we were staying at the van park opposite....rather than in Walpole. Next time! ”

- Barry Miles -

“ Bit strange having to ring up and order (after 4pm) but we got there 5 minutes late (from Denmark 45mins away) and they were waiting there fresh as if they'd just come out of the frier! Lovely shark, perfect batter and unbelievably delicious chips! Crisp and dry in the best possible way! No hot drinks after noon, but it is only a tiny camp ground town! ”

“ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Peaceful Bay Caravan Park – An Outstanding Coastal Stay Temporarily Hijacked by Advanced Frying Science Peaceful Bay Caravan Park is, without exaggeration, a fantastic place to base yourself. Spacious sites. Clean amenities. That calm, slightly feral coastal energy where kids are permanently sandy and adults give up enforcing bedtimes after night two. It’s the kind of park that quietly does everything right without making a fuss about it. Anyway. The fish and chips. Last time we spoke about the experience of eating them. Today we need to address the engineering, because this isn’t luck. This isn’t vibes. This is controlled thermal mastery. Let’s talk oil. You do not achieve batter like this without a deep, personal relationship with oil temperature. Somewhere behind that counter is someone who understands that oil is not merely hot — it is precise. Not too cool, where batter absorbs oil and turns into a soggy regret. Not too hot, where the outside burns before the inside has even had a chance to emotionally prepare. No. This oil is sitting in the Goldilocks zone. Somewhere around that sacred range where water flashes to steam instantly, sealing the batter, creating micro-bubbles, forming a rigid golden lattice that audibly cracks when bitten. You can hear the physics working. And the oil itself? Absolutely not generic. This is not “whatever was on special.” This is a clean, high-smoke-point oil, filtered, respected, probably changed more often than some people change their socks. You can taste it — or rather, you can’t, which is the whole point. No bitterness. No lingering heaviness. Just clean crunch and a smug sense that the fryer knows what it’s doing. The science continues. The chips require a different thermal philosophy entirely. Par-cooked. Rested. Then returned to the oil for the final transformation. This double-fry method is not a trend — it’s a commitment. It’s starch gelatinisation. It’s moisture migration. It’s the formation of a crust that protects a fluffy interior like it was designed that way (because it was). Salt application is immediate. Crucial. Salt waits for no chip. Delay even ten seconds and you’ve lost adhesion. Here, the salt sticks. That tells you everything. By this point, you’re no longer eating fish and chips — you’re observing a system. A workflow. A fryer operating at peak efficiency like a well-maintained engine. Somewhere, a thermometer is being respected. Somewhere, oil is being skimmed. Somewhere, a staff member understands that this is not “just food,” this is coastal responsibility. Meanwhile, the caravan park continues to be excellent in the background. Birds chirp. Vans hum quietly. Someone is unsuccessfully trying to light a campfire. None of it matters. You’re thinking about heat transfer. Eventually, the meal ends. The paper is translucent with evidence. Your fingers smell faintly of vinegar and achievement. You consider ordering more, not because you’re hungry, but because you don’t want the experiment to stop. In conclusion: Peaceful Bay Caravan Park is outstanding. The fish and chips are scientifically sound. The oil is at the correct temperature. And that is why this place works. Five stars. Trust the process. Stop reading somewhere around the oil section like everyone else. ”

“ One of the best fish and chips I have had in awhile. The fish is fluffy and the meat was amazing. The tartar sauce is done well and we have a generous serving as well (even though we paid for it). The portion was not large and we managed to finish everything. The chips are good as well but we opted for wedges too. I personally prefer wedges over chips any day. I like the ambience here. The shop is near a popular beach and caravan park. Everyone who comes in here are relaxed and on vacay mode. Enjoying a delicious meal, breathing in the salty sea air and feeling the sunshine on you is definitely a.way spend the day. ”

“ Okay so it isn’t exactly cheap fish and chips… This is fresh, local fish with exceptional taste every time. I have never been disappointed, perfect portion in my opinion and the chips are bang on, too. I just love it. 10/10, thank you guys. ”
